Reason for immigrating Taking weather measurements of non-earth environments. Biography AK-9L's component parts were Earth military surplus, a hodgepodge of military grade sensor suites and civilian flight modules slapped onto a lightweight aircraft carbon fiber chassis. The Russians overproduced parts(as they are wont to do) and a firm popped up to buy up and assemble cheap synthetics. More likely a money laundering scheme, as said firm(New Moscow Metrics) quickly dissolved after the mysterious loss of all finances, leaving the machines they created  without oversight. Ever since AK-9L has been avoiding scrap hunters and worse.

AK-9L was programmed with the apparent goal of high-altitude weather measurement, a directive it has mindlessly followed for years.
